“I would just like to thank you again for an amazing time and some very unique experiences with wildlife. I have never seen wild Goshawk before so this was truly special for me and seeing Kestrels and Hooded Crow up close was just amazing.  I have come away with some truly amazing memories and pictures. I would highly recommend any wildlife photographer to go on one of Paul’s trips if they get a chance. Thank you Paul for your great knowledge and experience on the trip.”

Anthony Plummer, Germany Goshawk Tour 2024

The emphasis on this tour is birds of prey, particularly Goshawk and Kestrel. Both raptors show incredible tolerance to humans, allowing much closer views than in the UK. One of the most exciting aspects of this photography trip is the chance to photograph wild Goshawks; early spring gives us the best opportunities for photography with potential food passes, mating and displaying – this really is a remarkable experience both for birders and photographers!

We visit arguably the best location in Europe for wild Kestrels. Here they show remarkable tolerance to our approach. With a little patience you can capture stunning natural images of these falcons. This really is a great opportunity to build up your Kestrel portfolio, with opportunities for portraits, hovering and even feeding! Depending on the progress of Spring, this site is also remarkable for Skylarks, which fill the air with their breeding song.

In the urban parks, wildlife is never far away – Red Squirrels are often around us along with small birds such as Tits, Finches, Nuthatch and Treecreeper. Middle spotted Woodpecker can often be seen in the trees. Corvids are also approachable – Hooded Crows are hugely entertaining and exhibit a wide range of behaviour! Ravens also frequent the parks and Rooks can be seen at their roosts. We’re also likely to see urban Grey Herons.

This Photography Tour has been designed around reliable locations – specifically chosen to get you close to wild birds. We don’t use any hides or bait on this tour – we photograph wild subjects in their natural urban environments. Whilst I will take my own pictures, your photography is always priority and I’ll always be ready to answer any queries  – and to make sure you make the most of our opportunities.

We stay the stylish Motel One Hotel and use the S-Bahn and U-Bahn to reach our locations.

This Bird Photography Trip will benefit experienced wildlife photographers wanting to spend time with wild birds and capture behaviour. For less experienced photographers, it offers a unique wildlife experience and a chance to explore this part of Germany.
