Join me on this Spring Bird Photography Workshop as we capture breeding Birds in full song
Dates: Early – Mid May
As Spring arrives, various bird species begin to proclaim their territories through the power of song providing wonderful opportunities for wildlife photography. Morning is the best time for bird song so we start at sunrise to maximise our chances of good action and good light. Using my many years of knowledge of local sites in West Yorkshire, we will target Reed Bunting, Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler and Willow Warbler along with Linnet, Blackbird, Wren and possible Whitethroat. We may even catch the elusive Cetti’s Warbler! This is also a fabulous time for breeding Ducks, Swans and Grebes – with plenty of birds pairing up for the breeding season.
We’ll work with a range of techniques using shutter speeds and apertures, and choose our viewpoints carefully to create bird photos with impact. This workshop is about taking our time, using field-craft, watching and learning behaviour – and coming away with quality images. Ideally you’ll need a lens equivalent to at least 400mm; a tripod is not essential but can help as it allows you to slow down and concentrate fully on capturing bird behaviour.
