Perfect your Close Up Photography on this Insect & Macro Workshop
Available June – September
This Macro Photography Workshop is aimed at photographers who wish to capture high quality close up images of insects in their natural environment. We visit a choice of beautifully managed habitats in West Yorkshire, including unimproved grasslands, ponds and secluded meadows. The exact location will depend on activity and wind direction. We’ll target a variety of species including damselflies, dragonflies, butterflies, hoverflies and bees. Other subjects can include, grasshoppers, spiders and various insect larvae.
The start time is flexible depending on weather conditions. In warm, still conditions we start around sunrise – not only does this coincide with lower winds but it also gives us the chance of insects being coated in water droplets from early morning dew. On cooler days we start a little later. In addition to insects, we also have the option to capture plants and flowers in close up detail. Photographic tuition will be given on macro photography including appropriate exposure settings, how to use the light effectively and how to achieve the best backgrounds.
