redgrouseworkshop

This Photography Workshop takes place in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Using the car as a mobile hide, we photograph upland birds in their natural habitat. Red Grouse will be our main target, providing close opportunities for photography amidst the heather and bilberry. Other birds include Lapwing, Curlew, Meadow Pipit, Wheatear and Oystercatcher. These workshops can be booked in Spring and late Summer. Spring time is exciting on the moors with much breeding activity and interaction. August is a special time as the heather moorland begins to flower creating a colourful purple backdrop for our images – this time of year is specifically for Red Grouse as most other birds have moved on.

“I was a bit nervous being basic amateurs but Paul was very patient, friendly and relaxed which put us both at ease. He explained things in a way we understood and ensured we got great shots.”

Charlotte & Daniel Fryer, Lancashire

To achieve the best photographs we’ll look at how to expose correctly and how to use focusing modes and focus points to achieve sharp images. A digital SLR or mirrorless is advised with a minimum focal length of 400mm.
