“I’ve been with you to Serbia three times now Paul, and each time it just gets better. Keep up the good work!”
Alec Becconsall, Serbian Bird Tour 2019
Book this Serbian Bird Photography Tour and capture fresh images of iconic birds such as Bee-eater, Roller and Red footed Falcon! This Balkan land-locked country is packed full of bird-life. Relatively undiscovered by photographers, the carefully situated photo hides offer stunning images with colourful natural backgrounds. This Tour includes a very high standard of accommodation at the luxurious 4 star Hotel Galleria – the perfect place to recover from the early morning starts!
There will be 6 days of photography consisting of 10 photo sessions. Some of our hides are one-way glass offering a wide uninterrupted perspective; it really does make a difference when waiting for birds to arrive on perches or trying to capture those difficult flight shots.! We spend time in our established Tower Hide photographing Red footed Falcon, Common Kestrel and European Roller. Other photo sessions include the Low Level Water Hides for Grey, Squacco and Night Heron and a Drinking Pool for woodland birds including Hawfinch, Red backed Shrike, Nightingale and Sparrowhawk. European Bee-eaters and Hoopoes are photographed from pop-up hides at nesting sites.
Photography Locations & The town of Subotica
To add variety to this bird photography tour we also do some ‘on foot’ photography at Protected Wetland Reserves. These areas are thriving with breeding birds including Night Heron, Great Egret and Marsh Harrier. The reed-beds are alive with the sound of warblers and we use the best locations to get close to Sedge, Savi’s and Great Reed Warbler. We also visit the habitat of the wonderful Penduline Tit that builds its hanging nest near the water’s edge. In addition, we take a Private Boat Trip through wetland water channels allowing us to capture birds from a unique perspective!
The tour also includes an optional half day sight-seeing tour of the capital Belgrade.

- Flights from Luton arrive in Belgrade in the evening. We have an overnight stop over before travelling north (alternative flights can be taken from Heathrow)
- A reasonable level of fitness is required: temperatures can be around 30 degrees. The tower hide is even hotter (and requires climbing a ladder to enter). Therefore hide sessions are usually in the cooler hours of early morning and evening. There is very little walking involved during the tour.
- Please note, we will be driving on some country and woodland tracks which can be bumpy in nature.
Serbia is developing in eco-tourism and increasingly providing quality hides for bird photographers. This is an opportunity to be part of something fresh and new, not to mention experiencing the world famous Serbian hospitality and food!
