Spend a day in Yorkshire photographing the spectacular wildlife of Malhamdale. Capture wild Peregrines at Malham Cove and photograph the birds of Gordale.
Photographing wild birds is an exciting challenge: this Photography Workshop concentrates on truly wild birds in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Peregrine falcons nest on Malham Cove, Yorkshire each year, providing rare photo opportunities of raptors in flight. Peregrines are protected at the nest by law: here we are able to watch from a public footpath without causing any disturbance. This course is limited to just three people.
We start early in the morning to make the most of the the light. The birds often come close in flight and we will be situated at the same level as the nest to photograph the spectacular action. Tuition will be given on flight photography and exposure settings to make the most of these fast moving subjects! Other species which can be photographed on top of the cove includes jackdaw and wheatear. Our morning’s photography will be followed by a classic and hearty Yorkshire breakfast at the Old Barn Cafe in Malham, where we can review and discuss our images.
During the afternoon we visit Gordale, an excellent location for dipper and grey wagtail which can be found along the beck. Both species are very confiding at this location. At Janets Foss, the woodlands are home to other wildlife including redstart and spotted flycatcher.
This workshop takes place on a Saturday. Clients are asked to leave the Sunday free if possible in the event of particularly bad weather. We can then look at the option of a Sunday workshop instead.
This is not just a Photography Workshop but also a Full-on Wildlife Experience – making it the ideal Gift!
