Join me on this Serbian Bird Photography Tour: An All-inclusive week photographing colourful Birds of the Balkans.
Date: 30th May – 6th June 2017 **Cancellation – One Place Available** Cost: £1450. Contact me for a possible Second Tour: 8th June
Book this Serbian Bird Photography Tour and capture fresh images of iconic birds such as Bee-eater, Roller and Red footed Falcon! This Baltic land-locked country is packed full of bird-life. Relatively undiscovered by photographers, the carefully situated photo hides offer unique images with different backgrounds and perch set ups. This Tour includes a high standard of accommodation at the luxurious 4 star Hotel Galleria – the perfect place to recover from the early morning starts!
There will be 5 days of photography with around 8 sessions – early mornings and evenings. Many of the hides are one-way glass offering a wide uninterrupted perspective; it really does make a difference when waiting for birds to arrive on perches or trying to capture those difficult flight shots. We will spend time in the perfectly situated tower hide photographing Red footed Falcon, Common Kestrel and European Roller.
Other photo sessions include a low level hide for herons and egrets and a drinking pool for woodland birds. Bee-eaters are photographed from pop-up hides at a busy sand bank colony. Special access is also granted to a Protected Nature Reserve where a ranger will guide us around the reed beds in a 4 x 4 vehicle; bird photography includes possible great reed warbler, night heron, great egret, marsh harrier and bearded tit.
Target birds include: red footed falcon, common kestrel, roller, bee-eater, grey heron, night heron, squacco heron, little egret, great egret, hawfinch, nightingale, red backed shrike, lesser grey shrike, song thrush, greater spotted woodpecker, long eared owl, white stork
Other possible species: blackcap, goshawk, sparrowhawk, little owl, green woodpecker, black woodpecker, syrian woodpecker, golden oriole, cuckoo, sand martin, bearded tit, marsh harrier, little bittern
- Flights are from Luton to arrive in Belgrade at midnight; an overnight stop over before travelling to the north (afternoon flights can be taken from Heathrow)
- A reasonable level of fitness is required: temperatures can easily get above 30 degrees. The tower hide is even hotter (and requires climbing a ladder to enter). Therefore hide sessions will be in the cooler hours of early morning and evening. There is very little walking involved during the tour.
- Please note, we will be driving on some country and woodland tracks which can be bumpy in nature.
- There will be at least half a day to relax and explore the town of Subotica
Serbia is developing in eco-tourism and is keen to provide quality hides for bird photographers. This is an opportunity to be part of something fresh and new, not to mention experiencing the warm Serbian hospitality.
